Nokia has officially announced its latest addition to the world of touch-screen mobile phones. The Nokia N97 is world’s most advanced mobile computer. The new Nokia N97 will be available in the first half of 2009 and will be priced around $700. The phone is designed to cater the needs of computer savvy consumers. As its review, the N97 is a multimedia phone with a large 3.5-inch touch screen, with a 32GB internal memory which can be extended up to 48GB with 16GB microSD card. This is complemented by excellent music capabilities, full support for the Nokia Music Store and continuous playback time of up to 1.5 days. The other features include a sliding QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera module, A-GPS and standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
According to Nokia press release, the N97’s 3.5-inch touch-screen with a QWERTY board provides an open window to favorite social networking sites and internet destinations. The N97 will introduce leading technologies like multiple sensors, processing power, memory and connection speed, for users to share their social location and create personal Internet.
“From the desktop to the laptop and now to your pocket, the Nokia N97 is the most powerful, multi-sensory mobile computer in existence,” said Jonas Geust, Vice President, heading Nokia Nseries. “Together with the Ovi services announced today, the Nokia N97 mobile computer adjusts to the world around us, helping stay connected to the people and things that matter most. With the Nokia N97, Nseries leads the charge in helping to transform the Internet into your Internet”.
With integrated A-GPS sensors and electronic compass, the N97 introduces the concept of ‘social location’. These integrated technologies allow N97 to update social networks with real-time information. This allows your approved friends to update their ’status’ and share their ’social location’ as well as related pictures or videos.
The home screen of N97 features the people, content and media that matter most. The social networks and news are available by simply touching the home screen. Its 16:9 display can be customized with widgets of web services and social networking sites. The N97 is also well suited for playing games, browsing the web and streaming Flash videos. The 5-megapixel camera captures high quality 16:9 DVD video and supports services like Share on Ovi for immediate sharing over HSDPA and WLAN.
